Compensation: $80,000 to $95,000 + target bonus 8-10%

Work week:  M – F, salaried, 8:00am to 5:00pm.  In the office, not a remote position.

Education / Certifications: Bachelor’s degree required

Experience: Previous supervisor experience within an accounting team is required. 5+ years’ experience in public accounting or within a public company.

Preferred Experience: Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, MBA, or CFA. Current CPA license. Experience within a consumer goods, outdoor equipment, fishing products is ideal.

Reasons for disqualification: Not passing background tests which includes drug and criminal testing.


The Opportunity

This Accounting Manager drive all aspects of the month end close process for a rapidly growing retail business with a focus in  Cash, Revenue and Margin Accounting

  • Drive and produce the accurate and timely reporting of financial statements in accordance with GAAP, focusing on cash, revenue and margins but ready to jump in on a host of other accounting responsibilities.
  • Support business initiatives with strong processes, internal controls and policies.
  • Build team and internal capability to implement and maintain robust controls & compliance.
  • Provide proactive leadership, including coaching and workflow management, to achieve maximum team performance.
  • Identify and develop various analytical tools to ensure the accuracy and completeness of revenues and margin.
  • Review and continuously improve on cash forecasting.
  • Identify best practices around reviewing revenue, labor and inventory accounting
  • Utilize and seek to improve on all accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Manage a small team of accountants and senior accountants.
  • Roll-up-your-sleeves as part of a collaborative team handling all accounting transactions, inclusive of preparing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Identify complex accounting problems, researches solutions, and corrects problem.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with stakeholders inside and outside Finance department.
  • Maintain appropriate financial reporting systems, processes and controls to ensure financial reporting requirements are accomplished.
  • Analyze monthly financial results and present to the Management Team and other key stakeholders in the business.
  • Ensure completion of monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and resolution of significant items.
  • Investigate and resolve accounting/reporting issues that arise.
  • Coordinate with independent auditors, internal auditors and tax auditors during respective audits.
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of daily treasury reports and bank records.

Qualifications

This Accounting Manager will be a trusted business advisor and will demonstrate excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. Additionally, this individual must be ethical, energetic, and have a passion for driving transformation.

  • The following experiences and/or qualifications are required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a public company or a combination of 5 years in public accounting and within a public company.
  • At least two years of people management experience. Demonstrated team building, personnel coaching and development skills
  • Thorough knowledge and working experience with GAAP and SOX compliance
  • Proven analytical abilities, project management and presentation skills
  • Experience in a fast paced, growing mid-sized company.
  • Must possess impeccable ethical standards, maintain high levels of credibility and confidentiality.
  • Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills and an ability to influence and lead.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate with a high level of independence, proactively identify potential financial and business risks, balance multiple business demands, and work collaboratively with colleagues
  • Strong logical and strategic thinking skills with a bias for action.
  • Ability to apply thinking to both financial and operational situations.

The following items are helpful or preferred, but not required:

  • Master of Finance, Accounting, MBA or CFA
  • CPA.
  • Experience in an industrial and manufacturing environment – consumer goods, outdoor equipment, fishing products is ideal.
