A leading global company in the food service industry is seeking an experienced Corporate Director of Labor Relations to join our team in Irvine, CA. This pivotal role involves developing and executing labor relations strategies that align with our corporate goals and ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in labor relations, a thorough understanding of labor laws, and a proven track record of fostering positive labor-management relationships.  

Compensation and Benefits:

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Juris Doctor degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5+ years in labor relations.
  • Ideal candidate may come from a law firm seeking to move in-house or currently working in-house with a focus on labor relations.
  • High degree of union experience, contract negotiations, grievances, and arbitrations.
  • Strong background in labor and employment law.
  • Experience with multi-site operations and managing multiple contracts.
  • Experience negotiating commercial agreements and real estate matters.
  • Preferred industry experience in manufacturing or distribution.
  • Willingness to travel 50-75% of the time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement labor relations strategies and programs that support the company’s business objectives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for labor relations issues, including collective bargaining, contract administration, and dispute resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations.
  • Provide guidance and support to management on labor relations matters, including interpretation of labor agreements and handling of grievances.
  • Lead negotiations for collective bargaining agreements and facilitate positive labor-management relationships.
  • Conduct training for management and HR staff on labor relations topics.
  • Monitor and analyze labor relations trends and provide recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with HR and legal teams to address and resolve complex labor issues.
  • Travel 50-75% of the time to various locations as needed.
