Cost Accountant

Required Experience: 3+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong Excel skills are required. Pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and formulas.

Job Description:

This position is responsible for performing accounting functions associated with the plant operations at our Alexandria, Louisiana facility. This position will report to the facility each business day.

Responsibilities:

1. Maintaining General Ledger, supporting ledgers and account reconciliations
2. Participates in the month end close process
3. Prepares revenue invoices
4. Provides necessary support to other departments
5. Supports the manufacturing cost process
6. Maintaining internal controls at the manufacturing facility
7. Assisting in the creation of the budgets and the month end close process

The incumbent works to optimize the company's Quality Policy and ensures that work always meets internal and external customer expectations. Applies themselves to the task involved, preventing errors, and implementing personal and departmental quality improvement projects. In addition, the incumbent is required to understand the Responsible Care Management System and actively participate in activities outlined therein.

To perform the essential functions of the job, the incumbent must possess, at a minimum, the following skills, and abilities:

1. Thorough knowledge and understanding of accounting principles, including cost accounting
2. Working knowledge of the flow of transactions to financials
3. Ability to operate a personal computer, advanced levels of spreadsheet software, and intermediate use of word processing software
4. Knowledge and thorough understanding of ERP accounting systems
5. Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal

The Plant Accountant must, at minimum, have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related disciplines, 3 or more years of the cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment and strong computer skills including proficiency in the spreadsheets (Excel) and Word processing software.

Experience with job costing a plus.
