Property Tax Accountant

Job Summary

Responsible for all aspects of real and business personal property tax including data submissions, property return review and approval, reviewing weekly funding requests, and processing landlord reimbursements for approximately 260 branch locations.  Prepare, calculate, project, and perform other related assignments. 


Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Works closely with third party vendor, direct supervisor, and internal real estate team to ensure compliance on all property tax related issues
  • Prepares and enters journal entries
  • Reconciles general ledger accounts on a monthly basis
  • Conducts tax research and resolve tax issues related to property tax

Work Environment

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 5% of the time
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions, there may be a need to move or lift light articles.


Minimum Qualifications

Must be a minimum of 18 years of age or older

Must pass pre-employment assessment(s)

Organized and deadline driven with strong attention to detail

Strong working knowledge of MS Excel (intermediate level)

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Previous experience with real and business personal property taxes

Education and Experience

  • At least 2-3 years of experience in property tax
