*Developmental Program - Will entertain new graduates for this position. The initial purpose of this role is to get hands-on training within the EHS field and eventually promote this person into a EHS Manager within our organization. 

Work week: 8:00am to 5:00pm, Mon-Fri, would be working primarily out of the Santa Ana office but would have some regional travel expected to visit the Anaheim & San Diego facilities.

Salary Range: $61,064.93 - $69,788.48 + 10% bonus

Benefits: Benefits start on the 1st of the month after they are employed (i.e., hired on November 15th, their benefits start December 1st. (Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k, Tuition Reimbursement; PTO)

Education / Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in related field (chemical or environmental engineering)

Experience: Will hire new graduates.

Preferred Experience (not required): Previous experience working in environmental health & safetySomeone with PCB experience would be great but not required. Wastewater Certifications. Chemical background a plus.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely on EH&S projects at multiple facilities in the South West region of our locations.
  • Oversee and coordinate projects including new start-ups, upgrading existing processes and looking for more cost effective and efficient ways to run all water/waste water treatment facilities.
  • Analyze safety metrics to identify trends and establish improvement projects and procedures to reduce future risk.
  • Grasp an understanding of the Worker’s Compensation system
  • Assist in Industrial hygiene monitoring and recordkeeping
  • Work with consultants to complete permitting packages and work with State & Local governments to secure permits required by the facilities in the region.
  • Design and oversee construction of environmental improvement projects throughout the territory.
  • Develop and analyze data to create predictive models for use in waste treatment processes, air quality systems and water use reduction projects utilizing current and future data collection systems
  • Work with production to be proactive with any design/process changes that will have an environmental impact.
  • Assist in conducting environmental site evaluations in conjunction with the EHS department and 3rd party environmental consultants to develop efficient site compliance strategies
  • Develop standard chemical transport systems to improve efficiency and safety at all our locations
  • Responsibilities include the reporting of all accidents, near misses and safety concerns. Perform job duties utilizing the required and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).Full participation in safety training and the ability to understand and follow the directions identified in Job Safety Analysis (JSA), PPE Assessments, Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and all Safety Procedures and alerts.
  • Facilitates and attends meetings, communicates regularly with managers and supervisors, suggests and composes procedural changes, attends special training, maintains a clean, safe work environment and communicates to supervisors’ safety hazards and issues.

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must possess good interpersonal, analytical, verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to multitask and lead by example.
  • Good mathematical skills, good computer skills: Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook 
  • Must be reliable and dependable. Must also be a fast learner.
  • Reads and understands blue prints. Reads and understands specifications and procedures • Has good reading vision, and is able to sit for up to 10 hours per day.
