Sr. Buyer

Salary Range is between $60-$90,000 as we have potentially two types of opening (Junior to Senior) openings. The position will pay based upon your experience, we'll need to see at least 2 years experience in a Buyer position to qualify for the position, the more experience you have the higher we can work with you on salary.

The position offers bonuses, the ability to relocate candidates outside the Columbia, SC area, and full benefits to their employees.

Buyer position for retail fishing company

The Buyer works within the Supply Chain department and reports to the Replenishment Manager.  The position is responsible for the planning, purchasing and analysis of all assigned categories.  The person will work closely with different global suppliers, as well as our internal teams in distribution, demand planning, sales and finance to achieve company goals such as sales, inventory turns, forecast accuracy and cash flow.

Job Responsibilities 

Effectively purchase items and/or materials for which the Buyer is responsible while achieving budgeted inventory levels, turns and service rate levels

Ensure that all Purchase Orders are placed on time to meet production demands 

Develop and meet cost reduction programs as assigned 

Monitor supplier performance levels to ensure maximum service and profitability 

Maintain effective communication with suppliers to resolve delivery/receiving issues 

Manage and update system inputs to keep lead time, order quantities, pricing and delivery date information accurate 

Assist team with achieving business goals 

Special projects and other assignments as needed 

Collaborate with all cross functional areas to plan and purchase inventory to expected service levels 

Develop purchase and exit strategies to manage inventory of phased out items 

Participate in inventory initiatives, as required 

Provide order forecasts to vendors, as required 

All other duties as assigned 

Qualifications 

Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, Logistics or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key accountabilities required of the job.

 2+ years of buying/planning experience or an equivalent combination of education/experience.  Consumer Goods experience preferred. 

Analytical ability to track and purchase inventories in an appropriate time frame

 High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications 

Experience with an ERP MRP planning platform

 Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, project management & planning skills 

Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning)

 Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts 

Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients

 Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment. 

Ability to work with and influence peers

 Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
