Required Experience: 5+ years’ experience engineering. Must have in-water remediation OR upland remediation OR contaminated sediments experience 

Preferred Experience: Master’s Degree, Professional Engineers license (P.E.), 40-hour HAZWOPER, experience with NPDES compliance, emergency response planning.

What’s the Opportunity?

We are seeking a full-time engineer for our Portland, Oregon office. We are interested in a candidate that has the capacity to grow, is a quick learner, is detail-orientated, is a committed team player, and possesses strong written and verbal communication skills. This position will support environmental engineering projects involving upland and in-water sediment characterization and remediation, source control evaluations, water quality assessments and compliance, and construction oversight. Successful candidates will have an opportunity to work on a variety of tasks of differing complexities, both independently and in team environments, learn directly from leaders in the industry, and provide mentoring to our junior staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing engineering calculations, cost estimates, design drawings, and specifications for a range of multi-disciplinary projects including upland and sediment remediation projects
  • Construction oversight support during remedial action project implementation.
  • Qualitative and quantitative analysis of environmental data
  • Technical writing to support the preparation of sampling and analysis plans, remedial investigation and feasibility study reports, and design documents, including design drawings and technical specifications
  • Mentoring and training of junior staff on engineering principles and design, depending on existing experience and level
  • Project and task management, including team assignments and coordination, client interaction, and production of deliverables

What Are We Looking For?

  • Ideal candidates will have the following:
  • BS or MS degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant work experience. 
  • Experience with in-water or upland remediation sites or contaminated sediments, including the planning and implementation of sampling, data analysis, feasibility studies, and remedial design. 
  • Experience with CERCLA, RCRA, MTCA, and Oregon cleanup regulations and application to various stages of a remediation project
  • Experience with NPDES compliance and spill and emergency response planning a plus
  • Strong understanding of the application of engineering principles to design, including cost estimating, development of plans and specifications, development of bid packages, development of dredge plans, and overseeing design implementation in the field (i.e., construction oversight)
  • Experience with mentoring and training junior staff on engineering principles and project management
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Project a plus)
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D experience a plus
  • Critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills
  • Professional Engineering (PE) licensure or ability to pursue shortly upon hire
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (preferred; will be provided by us upon hire if not currently certified)
  • Ability to travel for field and/or construction projects
