Job Description:
You will be in charge of the tax preparation process from start to finish; prepare and review individual, partnership, corporation, trust, and non-profit Federal and state tax returns; help with accounting closes to get books ready for tax prep; research, gather information from clients and advise them about laws and options; develop tax projections and saving strategies to share with clients in quarterly meetings; communicate with tax authorities to resolve issues.
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage client tax engagements from start to finish
- Prepare and review all types of tax returns
- Look for ways to help clients save taxes
- Do pro-active tax planning
- Meet with clients to gather information and make recommendations
- Quarterly planning meetings with business and high-net-worth clients
- Supervise entry-level preparers
- Work with the taxing authorities to resolve client tax issues
- Keep abreast of tax laws and do research
- As needed, help accounting services get books ready for tax prep
- Make tax adjustments in client’s books
- Occasionally prepare financial statements
- Whatever it takes to provide world-class service to every client
Desired Qualifications:
- Licensed Texas CPA (will consider if qualified to take the exam with plans to do so)
- Three + years of tax preparation experience in a public accounting firm
- Good knowledge of basic accounting principles and QuickBooks bookkeeping practices
- Friendly with strong interpersonal skills; team player
- Can thrive under the pressure of deadlines
- Motivated, confident, and competent with little need for supervision
- Tech savvy, proficient with Microsoft Office applications, QuickBooks online and desktop, Intuit ProSeries
- Organized and detailed, able to prioritize and manage multiple projects at once
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
